KISS Adds Their Blood for Marvel’s KISS Comic Book - May 26th, 1977
A shameless attempt at getting publicity for their new comic? Absolutely, but the four painted rockers and their management were kings when it came to marketing themselves. It was a fun story that supposedly led to blood being added to the red ink of Marvel Comics Super Special #1: KISS, and the news outlets ate it up.
I say supposedly because in an interview with Bill Aucoin (the group’s manager), he remembered there being some sort of hold-up with the comic pressing, so he believed the ink with the KISS blood went to some random issues of Sports Illustrated.
KISS is my favourite band of all time ever! :D I own a signed picture of them with Eric Carr as the drummer from when they came to Australia for the first time in the 80’s. The thing that gets me so excited is after almost 15 years of my life and highly dedicated searching… I have found a mint condition copy of this comic (never before opened) which I have arranged to buy :D I will hopefully have it in my possession by the end of this year. Once i get it i will never open it & i shall have it framed with a plaque including these pictures…
At times like this I realise how much of a nerd I am, and I wouldnt want it any other way! haha ( I just hope my gf doesnt mind xP )
